Contracts exist to protect a relationship, not to trap anyone in it. Here's ours, translated out of legal phrasing and into plain sentences — with a link to the real document below.
Why a contract
A puppy can't call a lawyer when something goes wrong. The contract is how we put that protection in writing before the dog leaves our hands — a genetic health guarantee, a mandatory take-back clause, and a set of care standards that follow the dog for life, not just for the drive home.
It also protects you. It spells out exactly what we've represented about the puppy's health and testing, exactly what remedy you're entitled to if something is genuinely wrong, and exactly what we need from you — a vet visit, some paperwork, a phone call before anything drastic — to make that guarantee mean something in practice.
None of it is designed to catch you out. It's designed so that if life gets complicated — a diagnosis, a move, a divorce, anything — there is already an agreed, unemotional plan for what happens next, and the dog is never the one who pays for the uncertainty.
The fine print, translated
Every clause in the full contract boils down to one of these eight commitments. Here they are, without the legal phrasing.
Get your new puppy examined by a licensed veterinarian of your choice within 72 hours (three business days) of pickup. This confirms the puppy's health at the start of your ownership and keeps the health guarantee active.
We guarantee against life-threatening or hereditary defects for two years from birth. A claim requires a written diagnosis from a board-certified veterinary specialist — not just a general checkup — so the guarantee is grounded in real clinical findings.
For pet placements on limited registration, your puppy is spayed or neutered between 12 and 18 months old, timed to protect orthopedic and endocrine development — not rushed, not skipped.
Your puppy lives inside as a member of the household — no outdoor kenneling, no tethering, no garage life. On leash, a harness is used instead of a collar, which matters for a brachycephalic breed's airway.
If you ever can't keep the dog, for any reason, you call us first — before a shelter, a stranger, or a listing online. We will always take the dog back or help place it. A Maison de Brume dog never ends up in a pound.
Your deposit holds a specific puppy and is non-refundable — except if we can't deliver the puppy you were promised, in which case you get a full refund or a transfer to a comparable puppy, your choice.
The remaining balance is paid at pickup in cash, certified funds, Good Dog, or Stripe. The puppy goes home once payment clears — straightforward, no surprises.
You acknowledge that French Bulldogs and Frenchtons are a brachycephalic breed prone to breathing sensitivity, heat intolerance, and related traits. Mild breathing symptoms (mild BOAS) are a known part of the breed and are not treated as a covered defect.
